Cast of Characters

The Gods

  • Chaos

    The God of Space and ruler of the Chaos Realm. He is one of two primordial gods that created the universe and designed Nagwas. He is the father of Titans, children who fought alongside him against Gaia. He aims to destroy Gloria and take control over the universe which they currently share. His denizens are called the Sons of Cain.

  • Gloria

    Sometimes known as Gaia, Gloria is the Goddess of Life and ruler of Heaven. She is one of two primordial gods that created the universe and designed humanity in Her image. Upon creating the first world, She created other lesser gods named Olympians to watch over Her creations. She is served by Angels.

  • Hades

    Hades was the God of the Underworld, an Olympian, and creator of Manticores. He was assassinated by the fallen angel Satan, but was avenged by his personal guard, Ephysto. Those who knew Hades remember him for his kindness. He was served by Demons.

  • Malektil

    The God of Balance and Judgement, son of the Olympian Poseidon, and the prototype to dragons. He communicates telepathically, his voice that of whispers through white noise. His watches over souls who had not yet crossed to their final resting place. He is served by denizens called Gargoyles.

  • Jackal

    Jackal is the current ruler of Hell and God of the Underworld. He was created during the war between Satan and Hades when the souls of Satan and Erebos were fused together to end the war. Many elder demons don't believe Jackal is fit to be ruler, and describe him as childish, bipolar, and volatile. The two souls within him still battle, and this comes out in his actions and thoughts. He is served by Demons.

  • Persephone

    The Goddess of Seasons and Change. She is a lesser god, and the daughter of Olympians Zeus and Demeter. Legends say that she was kidnapped from the mortal realm, but she chose to follow Hades into the Underworld. Even after his death, she is bound by her vow to return to The Egg for half of the year to manage the seasons. Her appearance and personality changes with the seasons.

The Denizens

  • Regal

    The Prince of Lust, son of Jackal, and heir to the throne of Hell. He was given the title at infancy and has been raised to fill that role. Although he has proven himself to be a talented incubus, he struggles with an altruistic moral compass. He has a habit of cracking jokes when he’s uncomfortable, even if it gets him into more trouble—which he’s used to.

  • Etoile

    As the Prince of Greed, Etoile uses a subtle approach to spreading his sin; he’s a salesman at Best Buy and is very good at convincing people to spend extra money. He is a technophile and has a large collection of gadgets from the centuries. He is also a skilled mechanic, having developed a revolver specially designed to use bullets made from demonic energy.

  • Viraine

    The current Prince of Gluttony, although she prefers to go by Princess. Her personality is volatile, switching from sweet to seductive to menacing in moments. She has the ability to devour anything, with her body acting as a bottomless pit. Jagged mouths appear on her body to help her consume souls.

  • Kasdeya

    After Satan's defeat, the rulers of Hell were left with an open chair in their Circle of Princes. Kasdeya was chosen as the replacement for the Prince of Wrath. Although he has a torrid history as a devout follower of Satan, he has proven himself to be a promising successor the role. However, he has a tendency to be bull-headed and easily triggered into anger, leaving him to be a bit reckless.

  • Leviathan

    Leviathan is one of the oldest demons in Hell and one of the original seven Princes. Although reserved and soft spoken, she was a fierce fighter in the War of Hades. Stricken with grief after Hades’ death, she now resides in the Sea of Chaos, swimming among the muck and attacking any Son of Cain who come close to the surface. Unfortunately, the toxic waters have been sapping away her strength, and no one knows how long she will be able to keep up her defenses.

  • Belphegor

    One of the original seven princes, he sided with Lucifer against the rebellion during the War of Hades. However, he didn't leave the battle unscathed. After a crippling blow, he was forced to retire from active duty as a Prince and started focusing on training other children of Sloth to do his work for him. In the end, that turned out to be a pretty good business plan. His motto is, "don't do anything you can get others to do for you.”

  • Lucifer

    The Lightbringer, the first Fallen Angel, and the first Demon Prince. After falling from Heaven, Lucifer became a consort to Hades and developed the Court of Princes. He led the siege against Satan’s rebellion. Unfortunately, his sworn enemy lived on within his new ruler, and he couldn't bring himself to bow before a false king. He defected from Hell, taking his Princely title with him, and hasn’t been seen since.

  • Keir

    Keir is an Angel of Kindness training under Michaelangelo. It’s a natural virtue for him, as he has a large heart that drives him to sacrifice himself for the good of others. His parents are highly respected angels in their respective ranks, so Keir feels pressure to make a name for himself. Unlike most angels, who choose to wear their halos over their heads or around their wrists, he chooses to wear his halo on his right ankle.

  • Michaelangelo

    The Archangel of Kindness, a title he has owned since its inception, and leader of the Archangels. A pacifist at heart, he balances out Gabriel’s fight first, talk later personality. When he needs to fight, he uses a bo staff and prefers speed over strength. He has a tendency of speaking in cryptic messages. He wears his halo on his right wrist.

  • Aislin

    Aislin is an angel of Kindness that attends the Institute as an Archangel Trainee. He is Keir’s roommate and is friend. An avid bookworm, he spends most of his free time getting lost in fantasy novels. He is chronically cold and always bundled under multiple layers. He’s laid back and calm in nature, but hardly a pushover.

  • Gabriel

    Gabriel is Gloria’s Archangel of Diligence and has held the titled since the inception of the title. He is a skilled swordsman and has an aggressive fighting style. After a few unauthorized trips to Earth in his youth, he has been mistakenly dubbed as a messenger. He is devoted to his work and his family, almost to a fault.

  • Malachi

    Malachi is Gabriel’s Deputy of Diligence. Nicknamed "The Golden Child," he is regarded as someone of high status—despite coming from an unknown family—and is respect for his battle strategy, fighting skills, and tracking abilities. Sometimes, the praise can get to his head. He holds deep respect for those who are trustworthy, honest, and have earned their accolades.

  • Sauda

    The current Archangel of Patience, having replaced her mentor, Zadkiel. She was once a demon that ascended to angelhood. Although she specializes in archery, she is also trained with daggers. As her virtue suggests, she is very patient, but does have a limit and will snap when pushed too far.

  • Oriel

    Oriel works alongside Sauda as the Deputy of Patience. She grew up in a large family with five siblings and was Keir’s babysitter for a short time. She is studious, practical, and fiercely loyal. While she can be stubborn at times, she aims to have an open-mind and is drawn to what may be considered taboo, such as practicing magic.

  • Zadkiel

    Zadkiel was the wife of Gabriel and previous Archangel of Patience. After a century of trying to conceive, she and Gabriel welcomed their firstborn son, Reagan, into Heaven. Unfortunately, they lost him within his first few months, driving her into a deep depression. She and her husband drifted apart over the years, with her loneliness and grief leading her to have an affair—and a second child despite her struggles with infertility. This act led to her banishment to the Sea of Discord, though no one other than Gloria and the Archangels know the truth of her fall.

  • Meena

    Meena is a Guardian Angel who specializes in the virtue of Patience. She is a soft-hearted, gentle woman who thrives when tending to others. As such, she is one of Heaven’s most successful Guardian Angels, serving dozens of souls at once. She is a doting mother to Keir and loving wife to Cassiel. Her greatest wish in life is for Keir to find the same happiness she found in her marriage.

  • Cassiel

    Cassiel is a Dominion of Temperance and leader of the Dominions. Although he and his son, Keir, have grown apart in recent years, he is extremely protective and proud of him—going as far as reminding him of his greatness any chance he can. Having a spotless reputation is very important to him.

  • Dara

    The Archangel of Temperance. Although born blind, Dara is capable of seeing soul auras more clearly than other angels. Her previous mentor, Cassiel, saw her disability as an advantage and gave her private lessons. Now, she is capable of using echo-location to navigate. Younger angels often don’t realize she’s blind, because she manages to be even more perceptive than most.

  • Javan

    Javan works under Dara as the Deputy of Temperance. He is very straight forward and blunt, which makes him appear standoffish to others—especially when he’s with Malachi and Izrail. He once had a rebellious phase, but has since grown out of it and now takes his role very seriously. He refrains from anything that may be considered unhealthy for his mind, body, or spirit.

  • Raphael

    The Archangel of Humility and Head of the Saints. Raphael has always been a quiet soul. He has always had a fascination with biology and medicine, leading him to become a healer. He has chosen a pacifist lifestyle and doesn’t wield any sort of specialized weapon. Should he ever need to land a deadly blow, he knows exactly where to strike.

  • Izrail

    Izrail is Raphael’s Deputy of Humility and one of Malachi’s closest friends. He was rather meek growing up, often mirror whoever he surrounded himself with to fit in. Malachi helped me gain more confidence in himself, leading him to be a bit arrogant. Izrail has a bit of a competitive streak, but appreciates when people don’t go easy on him.

  • Camael

    The Archangel of Chastity. From a young age, he had angels fawning over him. Out of spite, he rejected all confessions of love and only spent time with people who looked past appearances. He is now happily married to a Principality of Chastity named Rabia.

  • Laila

    Laila works under Camael as the Deputy of Chastity. Despite being extremely introverted and shy, Laila has a sharp sense of humor that can be surprising. She hates trying new things and stepping outside of her comfort zone, but has been working on her confidence since becoming a deputy. Unlike her mentor, she has no desire to ever have a family or engage in physical desires—making her a perfect fit for her virtue.

  • Anahera

    The Archangel of Charity. As a child of surrogacy, she considers herself lucky to have two sets of parents: three moms and one woefully outnumbered dad. This strong familial bond made her adopt other orphaned souls under her care. She almost didn’t take on the role of Archangel after her mentor, Uriel, transitioned into a new role. She is now one of the most popular Archangels among the younger angels.

  • Evangeline

    Evangeline works under Anahera as the Deputy of Charity. She’s the one who plans all of the charity events in Heaven. She loves to learn and will study practically any subject. She’s a bit of a know-it-all, especially when it comes to theology. One weekend, she decided to study the blueprints of the Institute, discovering secret tunnels throughout the building.

  • Charlie Horse

    Although not a true Gargoyle, Charlie Horse is considered a denizen of Malektil. He was once a mortal who traveled to Mt. Olympus to slay the creator of dragons, but was killed by a pack of wolves before he could reach the summit. Intrigued by the fae, Malektil stole his soul from Hades and made him a personal servant. After centuries, Charlie Horse now sees Malektil as a friend and is eager to serve him despite his laziness.

The Mythos

  • Pythos

    After nearly escaping his murderous father, Pythos and his sister were taken in by the witch Jude. Since then, he has worked tireless to make a name of himself. He moved to Niagara Falls and became the High Warlock of Canada. He opened up a mythos club and offers private services for anyone who offers a fair price. He specializes in Luminomancy, specifically shadow magic.

  • Archana

    Archana is the younger sister of Pythos. She has few memories of her childhood back in India, but knows not to ask about the details leading up to why she and Pythos were raised by Jude. She is considered a Green Witch and is certified herbalist and healer. She lives in Paris under the study of Jude and enjoys making natural products for mythos and humans alike. Despite her dark aesthetic, she has a surprisingly warm personality.

  • Jude

    Jude is a co-founder of the Academies and a Green Witch. Not much is known about her, as she is nomadic in nature and rarely stays in one place for long. She has a knack for being in the right place at the right time.

  • Headmaster

    Headmaster is a co-founder to the Academies and a self-proclaimed human, yet he is capable of Luminomancy and Summoning magic. Not much is known about him—not even his true name. He is a stern but fair leader, but has a soft spot for his nephew, Kyran.

  • Kyran

    Kyran is a Fallen Angel who grew up with Headmaster at the Academy of Psi. He’s sheltered when it comes to life outside of the Academies, but has an adventurous spirit. He suffers from an unknown illness that causes him to have episodes of memory loss and dissociation, sometimes taking on a completely different personality.

  • Foster

    Foster is one of the agents of the Academy of Psi in the Intrigue Division. He’s a faerie capable of wielding fire magic, which reflects his explosive personality. He’s a native to Feyseele, but decided to live on Earth to find adventure away from home.

  • Shane

    A Telken elf hailing from Thornbrush, Shane is a master at manipulating water and is studying to specialize in ice-based magic. He doesn’t talk about his life back in Thornbrush, simply stating he wanted a different lifestyle. He’s the founder of the Academy of Psi’s Yoga and Meditation Club.

  • Giovanna

    Giovanna is a werewolf who grew up in Italy with her family. After her father lost a challenge as pack leader, her family scattered to find a new territory. She left to backpack Europe and found her way to the Academy of Vex in Russia. Nosy and talkative with a tendency to overshare and overstep boundaries in the name of being social.

  • Dylan

    Dylan is a warlock who attends the Academy of Psi. He’s a sociable history nerd who loves playing board games—though, he’s bad at cards. He’s studying to become an archivist, but currently works as part of the Academy’s Clean-Up Crew, going to Earth to wipe the memories of those who have been exposed to magic and clearing the evidence.

  • Sloan

    Sloan is a vampire who specializes in divination magics. They are a private and quiet person who prefers to not share much about their past. Like most vampires, they prefer to sleep during the day and more active at night. They are a part of the Clean-Up Crew and studying to try and predict breaches in magical security before the occur.

  • Maeve

    Maeve is a faerie with brown moth wings. She leads the very small Sanctuary hidden within St. Basil’s Cathedral in Russia, where she works as a tour guide. She works hard to provide a safe space for any mythos that are traveling through Moscow, even if it means she can’t leave.

  • Amelia

    Amelia is a nomadic swallowtail fae who lives at St. Basil’s Cathedral. She’s an optimistic dreamer who longs to live a life off the streets.

  • Vespa

    Vespa is a hornet fae that lives at the St. Basile’s Cathedral in Russia. After years of being homeless, he has developed a cynical and skeptical personality.
